When we talk about organic agriculture, the most important aspect we have to take into consideration to guarantee a rich harvest is soil health. Microorganisms in the soil play an essential role in the growth and harmonious development of plants, therefore the right organic fertilizers must be chosen after a small documentation.
That's why, we thought of coming to your help and explaining to you in this material how to choose biological fertilizers for organic agriculture.
What should you do before choosing organic fertilizers?
First of all, a soil test will be necessary for exact knowledge of the elements present at its level. Specific analysis will show:
- What is the level of the pH of the soil
- What is the humus content
- What is the amount of mobile phosphorus
- What is the amount of potassium
Considering the fact that in organic agriculture the use of chemical synthesis fertilizers is severely prohibited, since they can influence the living part of the soil, we will have to focus on organic fertilizers, in which it is also:
Green fertilizers
For the fertilization of the earth with green fertilizers, plants of legume families (peas, peas, bobs, soybeans, sulfine, alfalfa), crucifixes (rapeseed, mustard) or grams (rye, tritic, oat). Lucerne and clover are the most recommended species for green fertilizers. The crops of these categories can be sown between August and September, the IAS plant mass can be incorporated into the ground in February-March.
Fertilizers can also be administered during the vegetation period, in small doses, in conjunction with the processing of soil or irrigation.
Types of biological fertilizers for organic agriculture
The most important biological fertilizers known in Romania are:
Manure
Being made up of a mixture of solid and liquid manure that come from animals or materials previously used as waste for them, in particular straw, manure is very popular among organic fertilizers. It must pass through a fermentation process before it is good to use. Usually, fermentation is performed in garbage or directly in the stable from which the dejections come. The fermentation of manure can be made cold, for about three months, at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius or hot, i.e. at 60 degrees Celsius, a temperature to which pathogenic agents and the profitability of grass seeds are destroyed. In the latter case, the fermentation of manure is performed when the material in the platform is dissolved and humid. The manure is applied during the summer-autumn period, up to the autumn plow.
Mranața
Even a sort of manure, except for the fact that an advanced level of fermentation and decomposition has been reached, Mranite contains many more nutrients for the ground compared to its initial version. Mranița can also be used during vegetation, because it decomposes itself very easily, feeding the soil in real time.
Nittle Macerate
If the surface of the agricultural land you want to fertilize is small, an excellent idea for an effective organic fertilizer is the nettle macerate. The plant is collected and crushed, then it is deposited in a ship, on which the water is poured. The fertilizer will be really good if you remember to mix from so much so that you have stored it. Another advantage of this organic fertilizer is that it is ready to feed the ground in a maximum of five days. Immediately afterwards, it is used in a 1:10 ratio in a mixture of water.
Urine and spiral must
The liquid fraction of the dancer produced by animals is called mustard. For basic fertilization, 3-5 m3/HA are used for field crops, 5-10 m3/HA for vegetables. Before administration, the product diluted with 4-5 parts of water. This type of fertilization is performed every 3-4 years.
compost
It expires vegetables made up of straw, cocens, herbs or leaves, mixed with animal waste, manure, that is, household waste and fermented sludge form compost, an excellent organic fertilizer for any type of soil. For its production, practically all waste of organic origin from the environment are used.
It is important to remember that fertilization should be made at repeated but moderate doses, so that the results are foreseen. The interval you choose to do is also very important. We advise you not to introduce fresh organic fertilizers in the ground, because their anaerobic decomposition will create toxic substances for the plants you choose to grow.
